Community & server rules

The official rules of The Legacy Roleplay. They apply in the city, in Discord and on this website.

WELCOME TO THE LEGACY ROLEPLAY!

THE LEGACY ROLEPLAY is an Australian semi-serious FiveM roleplay community built around fair gameplay, meaningful roleplay, respect and having fun.

Whether you're an experienced roleplayer or completely new to FiveM, everyone deserves the opportunity to enjoy themselves, develop their character and become part of our community.

Our philosophy is simple:

Roleplay should be fun, fair and enjoyable for everyone involved.

We encourage creativity, humour, character development and memorable interactions while maintaining a fair and immersive environment.

📖 BEFORE YOU PLAY

All players and staff members are required to read and follow the official server rules.

These rules apply to:

  • All in-game activities and interactions.
  • Official Discord channels and community spaces.
  • Out-of-character behaviour connected to the community.
  • All players, staff members and community representatives.

Members must also follow Discord's Community Guidelines while using Discord.

⚖️ RULE ENFORCEMENT

Depending on the severity of a violation, disciplinary action may include:

  • Verbal or written warnings.
  • Removal from an active situation.
  • Temporary kicks or restrictions.
  • Temporary server bans.
  • Removal of illegitimately obtained assets.
  • Permanent bans or community removal.

Serious violations may result in immediate disciplinary action without a prior warning.

🤝 OUR COMMUNITY COMMITMENT

THE LEGACY ROLEPLAY is committed to building a community where:

  • Everyone is treated fairly and respectfully.
  • Staff are accountable for their decisions.
  • Player feedback is welcomed.
  • Roleplay is encouraged rather than unnecessarily restricted.
  • New players have a fair opportunity to develop.
  • Toxicity, harassment and abuse are not tolerated.

Nobody is above the rules, regardless of their role, rank or position within the community.

By participating in THE LEGACY ROLEPLAY, you agree to follow the current server rules.

Welcome to the city. Build your story. Leave your Legacy.

COMMUNITY CONDUCT & PLAYER SAFETY

01GENERAL CONDUCT & RESPECT#

Respect is expected from everyone, regardless of their position within the community.

  • Harassment, racism, discrimination, homophobia, sexism, hate speech and targeted abuse are strictly prohibited.
  • Toxic behaviour, griefing, repeated trolling and deliberately provoking other players are not permitted.
  • Personal disputes must not be brought into public community channels or used to disrupt gameplay.
  • Do not impersonate staff members or claim authority you do not possess.
  • Advertising other servers, communities or services without permission is prohibited.
  • Spamming, disruptive audio and intentionally offensive usernames or avatars are not permitted.
  • Do not deliberately exploit loopholes or technicalities to circumvent the intention of server rules.
  • Respect other players' roleplay experiences, even when situations do not go in your favour.
  • Keep out-of-character disagreements separate from in-character conflicts.

In-character disagreements, rivalries and conflict are part of roleplay. However, in-character conflict must never become out-of-character harassment.

02PRIVACY & PERSONAL INFORMATION#

THE LEGACY ROLEPLAY maintains a zero-tolerance approach to behaviour that threatens the privacy or safety of community members.

  • Doxxing or threatening to release another person's private information is strictly prohibited.
  • Sharing personal addresses, phone numbers, workplaces, private social media information or other identifying details without permission is prohibited.
  • Do not distribute screenshots, recordings or private conversations containing sensitive personal information without authorisation.
  • Threats of real-world violence, stalking or targeted intimidation are prohibited.
  • Attempting to obtain, distribute or encourage others to disclose private information is prohibited.
  • Serious privacy violations may result in immediate permanent removal.

Where appropriate, serious incidents may also be reported to Discord or the relevant authorities.

03COMMUNITY DISPUTES & REPORTING#

Disagreements should be handled respectfully and through the appropriate channels.

  • Do not publicly harass or attack another player over a roleplay situation.
  • Do not encourage others to target a player or staff member.
  • Do not disrupt active roleplay to argue about server rules.
  • If you believe a rule has been broken, complete the situation where reasonably possible and submit a support ticket.
  • Players must not retaliate against others for submitting genuine reports.
  • Deliberately false or malicious reports may result in disciplinary action.

If you have a concern, report it through the official support system rather than creating unnecessary community conflict.

ROLEPLAY RULES & EXPECTATIONS

04ROLEPLAY STANDARDS#

THE LEGACY ROLEPLAY is an Australian semi-serious roleplay community.

We encourage creativity, humour and memorable situations while maintaining reasonable immersion.

  • Remain in character during active roleplay situations.
  • Use appropriate out-of-character channels for technical issues or unrelated discussions.
  • Characters must behave in a reasonably believable manner.
  • Players must acknowledge genuine threats, injuries and consequences.
  • Respect other players' opportunities to participate in roleplay.
  • Do not intentionally disrupt, derail or sabotage another player's roleplay.
  • Erotic Roleplay (ERP), sexual roleplay and sexually explicit interactions are prohibited.
  • Do not use unrealistic behaviour or game mechanics to escape legitimate roleplay consequences.

Funny characters and light-hearted interactions are welcome. Constant trolling, deliberate disruption and refusing to participate in roleplay are not.

05RANDOM DEATHMATCH (RDM)#

Random Deathmatch is attacking, injuring or killing another player without valid roleplay initiation or an established roleplay reason.

  • Violence must have legitimate roleplay context.
  • Players should have a reasonable opportunity to understand and respond to threats when circumstances allow.
  • Previous disagreements do not automatically justify attacking someone without appropriate context.
  • Shooting should not be the immediate response to every disagreement.
  • Players may defend themselves against immediate, credible threats.
  • Designated KOS combat zones are exceptions where specifically stated.

06VEHICLE DEATHMATCH (VDM)#

  • Using a vehicle as a weapon against another player without valid roleplay justification is prohibited.
  • Do not deliberately run over players without legitimate roleplay justification.
  • Do not repeatedly ram vehicles to grief or harass others.
  • Do not use vehicles to bypass combat or roleplay rules.
  • Vehicle-related violence must remain reasonable and consistent with the situation.

07METAGAMING#

Metagaming means using information your character could not reasonably know to influence in-game decisions.

Examples include:

  • Using Discord conversations to locate another player.
  • Watching livestreams to obtain in-game information.
  • Using private messages or external voice chats to share information your character has not obtained.
  • Using knowledge gained through another character.
  • Acting on information obtained while spectating or through administrative tools.
  • All information used by your character must be obtained through legitimate in-character means.

08POWERGAMING#

Powergaming involves forcing unrealistic outcomes or using game mechanics to remove another player's reasonable opportunity to respond.

  • Do not force actions onto another player without appropriate roleplay.
  • Do not perform actions your character could not reasonably accomplish.
  • Do not exploit animations, game limitations or mechanics to gain unfair advantages.
  • Do not force another player to accept an outcome without reasonable interaction.
  • Do not use unrealistic actions to escape legitimate restraints or consequences.

09FEAR RP & VALUING LIFE#

Your character must value their life and respond reasonably to dangerous situations.

  • Respond appropriately when faced with credible threats.
  • Do not act as though your character is invincible.
  • A player who is restrained, clearly outnumbered or under immediate threat should acknowledge the danger.
  • Do not perform unrealistic actions to escape situations where no reasonable escape exists.
  • Injuries, incapacitation and other consequences must be acknowledged appropriately.

Fear RP does not mean automatic compliance in every situation.

The circumstances, available escape options and nature of the threat must be considered.

10NO INTENT TO ROLEPLAY (NITRP)#

Players must participate meaningfully in legitimate roleplay situations involving their characters.

The following are prohibited:

  • Deliberately ignoring players who are actively roleplaying with you.
  • Refusing to participate simply because you dislike the situation or potential outcome.
  • Going AFK, disconnecting or respawning to avoid consequences.
  • Breaking character to argue about rules, scripts or staff decisions.
  • Spamming emotes, sounds or animations to disrupt active scenes.
  • Refusing to acknowledge legitimate injuries, restraints or incapacitation.
  • Intentionally rushing, sabotaging or abandoning roleplay without reasonable justification.
  • Entering an active scene solely to troll or interfere.

VEHICLE SWITCHING DURING ACTIVE SCENES

Players may not repeatedly retrieve personal vehicles from garages to avoid the consequences of an active roleplay situation.

For example, if your vehicle becomes disabled during a police pursuit, you cannot simply enter a garage and spawn another personal vehicle to continue escaping.

Changing vehicles through legitimate, naturally occurring roleplay is permitted where otherwise consistent with server rules.

11CHARACTER CREATION & IDENTITY#

All characters must support a believable roleplay environment.

  • Character names must follow a First Name / Last Name format.
  • Names must be realistic and use standard English-language characters.
  • Offensive, meme, celebrity and deliberately misleading names are prohibited.
  • Characters must use approved human player models.
  • Animal models, creature models and unapproved story NPC models are prohibited.
  • Characters must maintain reasonably consistent identities.
  • Name changes cannot be used to escape existing roleplay consequences.
  • Separate characters must remain distinct and cannot exchange information through metagaming.
  • Players must not create characters solely to troll or disrupt the community.

ACCEPTABLE NAMES ✅ Michael Carter ✅ Olivia Reyes ✅ James Mitchell

UNACCEPTABLE NAMES ❌ Big_Dawg420 ❌ LilPump ❌ John Wick

Staff may require changes to names or appearances that do not meet community standards.

12CLOTHING, MASKS & UNIFORMS#

  • Police, EMS and restricted faction uniforms require appropriate authorisation.
  • Impersonating emergency services through restricted uniforms or insignia is prohibited unless expressly permitted by server rules.
  • Unapproved non-human heads or creature-style masks are prohibited during ordinary roleplay.
  • Masks may be used for legitimate roleplay purposes, including criminal activities.
  • Wearing a mask does not automatically make a character unidentifiable.
  • Identification may be supported by appropriate roleplay evidence, including voice, clothing and observed behaviour.

Staff may require players to remove restricted or inappropriate clothing.

CRIMINAL ROLEPLAY RULES

13CRIMINAL ACTIVITY & ESCALATION#

  • Criminal activity must have appropriate roleplay context.
  • Robberies, kidnappings and hostage situations must involve genuine roleplay interaction.
  • Players must be given a reasonable opportunity to respond to demands where circumstances allow.
  • Violence must follow reasonable escalation unless immediate self-defence is justified.
  • Shootouts should not automatically be the first solution to a disagreement.
  • Players must value their character's life during criminal encounters.
  • Do not repeatedly target the same player or group purely to harass them.
  • Do not use disconnects, exploits or Green Zone mechanics to avoid criminal consequences.
  • Criminal roleplay should create meaningful situations rather than exist solely to win encounters.

14PLAYER ROBBERY RULES#

  • Robberies must involve meaningful roleplay interaction.
  • Players must have a legitimate in-character reason to initiate a robbery.
  • Randomly targeting players without appropriate roleplay is prohibited.
  • Players actively performing legitimate jobs are protected from robbery and theft.
  • Players cannot be robbed within designated Green Zones.
  • Do not repeatedly target the same player to obtain money, weapons or inventory items.
  • Players must be given a reasonable opportunity to respond to robbery demands.

⏱️ PLAYER ROBBERY COOLDOWN

60 MINUTES

The same player cannot be robbed again by the same criminal group within 60 minutes of the previous robbery ending.

This restriction applies to all participants in the original criminal group.

Switching characters, clothing or group members does not reset the cooldown.

15KIDNAPPING & HOSTAGE RULES#

Kidnappings and hostage situations must have a meaningful roleplay purpose.

  • Players cannot be kidnapped without appropriate roleplay initiation.
  • Hostages must be treated realistically.
  • Players must be given a reasonable opportunity to respond where circumstances allow.
  • Hostages cannot be taken from designated Green Zones.
  • Players actively performing legitimate jobs cannot be kidnapped or used as hostages.
  • Do not repeatedly target the same player for kidnapping or hostage situations.
  • Fake hostages, including willing accomplices used to manipulate police negotiations, are prohibited.
  • Hostage situations must involve genuine interaction rather than exist solely to force an advantage.

⏱️ KIDNAPPING COOLDOWN

120 MINUTES

The same criminal group cannot kidnap the same player again within 120 minutes of the previous kidnapping ending.

⏱️ HOSTAGE REUSE COOLDOWN

120 MINUTES

The same player cannot be reused as a hostage by the same criminal group within 120 minutes of the previous hostage situation ending.

Cooldowns apply to all participants in the criminal group.

16STORE ROBBERY COOLDOWN#

60 MINUTES

The same criminal group cannot rob the same store or location again within 60 minutes of the previous robbery ending.

Server-scripted robbery cooldowns remain separate unless explicitly aligned with this rule.

17CRIMINAL COOLDOWN CONDITIONS#

The following conditions apply to all criminal cooldowns:

  • Cooldowns begin when the relevant incident ends.
  • Cooldowns apply to the participating criminal group, not only the individual who initiated the situation.
  • Changing characters, clothing or group members does not bypass a cooldown.
  • Using another person or group to deliberately circumvent cooldowns is prohibited.
  • Cooldowns do not automatically prevent unrelated, naturally developing roleplay.
  • Players may not exploit cooldowns to provoke others or escape legitimate consequences.

Criminal roleplay should be enjoyable for everyone involved, including victims, criminals and emergency services.

JOBS, EMPLOYMENT & EMERGENCY SERVICES

18WORKER PROTECTION#

THE LEGACY ROLEPLAY protects players who are actively participating in legitimate employment activities.

Players should be able to work, earn money and progress without unnecessary harassment or disruption.

🛠️ PROTECTED WORK ACTIVITIES

Examples include:

  • Mining and resource collection.
  • FIFO employment activities.
  • Delivery and courier jobs.
  • Warehouse employment.
  • Taxi driving.
  • Construction and trade jobs.
  • Other legitimate employment activities.
WORKER PROTECTION RULES
  • Players actively working cannot be robbed, kidnapped or taken hostage.
  • Work vehicles, equipment, collected materials and delivery cargo cannot be stolen from players actively performing their jobs.
  • Players must not intentionally block, damage, destroy or interfere with work vehicles or tasks.
  • Players cannot exploit job locations to bait workers into criminal situations.
  • Repeatedly disrupting employment activities is considered griefing.
  • Players performing legitimate jobs remain protected while travelling between job-related locations.
  • Job protection applies only while genuinely performing legitimate employment activities.
  • Simply standing at a worksite or claiming to be working does not automatically grant protection.
  • Starting a job cannot be used to escape an existing criminal or hostile roleplay situation.
  • Job protection does not provide immunity from legitimate police investigations, arrests or consequences arising from criminal activity.

IMPORTANT: Worker protection applies while actively working, including when travelling outside a designated Green Zone as part of legitimate employment.

19EMERGENCY SERVICES#

Police and EMS play an essential role in maintaining a fair and enjoyable roleplay environment.

  • Do not interfere with active emergency scenes without legitimate roleplay involvement.
  • EMS personnel actively providing medical treatment cannot be attacked, robbed or intentionally harmed.
  • Police and EMS-issued equipment cannot be stolen from on-duty personnel.
  • Do not repeatedly target emergency services solely to disrupt their duties.
  • Emergency vehicles cannot be stolen or destroyed without valid roleplay justification.
  • Players must respond reasonably to legitimate police and EMS interactions.
  • Do not enter emergency scenes solely to troll or interfere.
  • Medical treatment roleplay must not be deliberately disrupted.
EMERGENCY SERVICES ACCOUNTABILITY

Police and EMS personnel must also follow all server rules.

  • Emergency services positions do not grant immunity from server rules.
  • Police and EMS must treat players fairly and professionally.
  • Abuse of department authority or equipment is prohibited.
  • Department-related complaints may be reported through the official support process.

Emergency services exist to support meaningful roleplay, not to provide an unfair advantage to any individual or group.

GREEN ZONES & CAYO ISLAND RULES

20SAFE ZONES & GREEN ZONES#

Certain locations throughout THE LEGACY ROLEPLAY are designated Green Zones to provide players with a safe environment to work, access essential services and participate in everyday activities.

🟢 DESIGNATED GREEN ZONES

The following locations are protected:

🏥 HOSPITALS & MEDICAL FACILITIES Designated locations providing medical treatment and services.

🏛️ GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS City Hall and other officially designated government facilities.

📍 PLAYER SPAWN LOCATIONS Designated areas where players enter the city.

🛠️ WORK LOCATIONS Designated employment areas, including job depots, warehouses, mining sites, manufacturing workplaces and other legitimate job locations.

🚫 GREEN ZONE RESTRICTIONS

  • No violence, shootings, robberies, kidnappings or hostile criminal activity.
  • Players cannot steal vehicles, equipment, materials or belongings within a Green Zone.
  • Players cannot threaten, intimidate or deliberately provoke others into hostile situations.
  • Players cannot initiate attacks from inside a Green Zone or attack players inside one from outside.
  • Players cannot use Green Zones to escape active criminal situations, police pursuits or roleplay consequences.
  • Players cannot deliberately lure others into Green Zones to exploit their protection.
  • Players must not intentionally block, damage or interfere with vehicles or activities within a Green Zone.

⚠️ IMPORTANT CONDITIONS

  1. Green Zone protection applies within officially designated and marked boundaries.
  2. Work locations are protected Green Zones.
  3. Players actively performing legitimate jobs remain protected under the Worker Protection Rules even when their tasks take them outside a marked Green Zone.
  4. Green Zones do not provide immunity from legitimate police investigations, arrests or other lawful roleplay actions.
  5. Players cannot claim Green Zone protection simply by entering a workplace or starting a job to avoid an existing roleplay situation.

Green Zones exist to protect fair gameplay, not to provide an escape from roleplay consequences.

21CAYO ISLAND COMBAT ZONE#

Cayo Island is designated as a Kill On Sight (KOS) combat zone.

Players entering the active combat area accept the risk of hostile encounters without normal roleplay initiation requirements.

🔫 COMBAT RULES

  1. KOS is permitted within the designated Cayo Island combat zone.
  2. Players may engage in combat without prior roleplay initiation once inside the active combat area.
  3. Vehicle-based attacks and intentional ramming are prohibited.
  4. Vehicles cannot be used to kill or injure players.
  5. Standard roleplay rules apply outside the designated combat area.
  6. Cheating, exploiting, harassment and other general community violations remain prohibited.

🚁 BOAT & HELICOPTER LANDING PROTECTION

All designated boat and helicopter arrival points on Cayo Island are protected landing areas.

  • Players aboard arriving boats or helicopters cannot be attacked.
  • Players aboard arriving boats or helicopters cannot initiate attacks.
  • Players inside designated landing protection areas cannot attack or be attacked.
  • Players must have a reasonable opportunity to disembark and enter the island.
  • Landing protection ends when a player crosses the marked boundary into the active combat zone.
  • Players cannot fire into or out of protected landing areas.
  • Players cannot retreat into landing protection after entering active combat.
  • Players cannot camp protection boundaries to exploit the transition.
  • All combat must take place on foot.

📍 LANDING PROTECTION BOUNDARIES

  • Landing protection areas are located at Cayo Airport and the Boat ramp areas.
  • Protection applies to all approved boat and helicopter arrival points.
  • Unmarked or unauthorised landing locations do not automatically receive protected-zone status.
  • Until the marked boundaries are active and published, arriving occupants remain protected while aboard and must be given a reasonable opportunity to disembark before combat begins.

Cayo Island is a high-risk combat location, but every player must have a fair opportunity to enter the combat zone.

ENFORCEMENT, FAIR PLAY & STAFF ACCOUNTABILITY

22EXPLOITS, CHEATING & AUTOMATION#

THE LEGACY ROLEPLAY maintains strict rules against cheating and abuse of game systems.

The following are prohibited:

  1. Using cheats, mod menus, injectors or unauthorised software to gain an unfair advantage.
  2. Exploiting bugs, glitches or unintended mechanics.
  3. Duplicating items, money, vehicles or resources.
  4. Using macros, bots, scripts or automation to complete gameplay tasks, skill checks or minigames unfairly.
  5. Automating employment, manufacturing, farming or other progression systems without authorisation.
  6. Manipulating inventories, transactions or game systems to obtain illegitimate rewards.
  7. Knowingly concealing or distributing exploitable vulnerabilities for personal advantage.
  8. Using animations, vehicles, safe zones or other mechanics to avoid legitimate roleplay consequences.

🐛 REPORTING BUGS

If you discover a bug or potential exploit, report it privately through the official support system.

Do not intentionally reproduce, share or abuse exploits for personal gain.

Players who knowingly exploit systems may face removal of illegitimate assets, account resets or permanent bans depending on severity.

23COMBAT LOGGING, DISCONNECTIONS & RESTARTS#

Players cannot deliberately leave an active situation to avoid roleplay consequences.

  1. Disconnecting, force-closing FiveM or respawning to escape active roleplay is prohibited.
  2. Players experiencing genuine crashes or connection issues should report the incident and make a reasonable effort to resume the situation.
  3. Do not initiate major scenarios immediately before scheduled restarts when they are unlikely to finish.
  4. Server restarts cannot be deliberately used to avoid arrests, combat, robberies or other consequences.
  5. Staff may determine whether an interrupted situation should continue after a restart.

Genuine technical issues will be considered when reviewing incidents.

24ALTERNATE ACCOUNTS & BAN EVASION#

  • Using alternate accounts to evade bans, suspensions or restrictions is prohibited.
  • Sharing accounts to circumvent disciplinary action is prohibited.
  • Attempting to conceal a banned identity may result in permanent community removal.

Enforcement applies to the individual responsible, not simply the account used.

25REAL-WORLD TRADING#

Buying, selling or exchanging in-game assets for real-world currency, goods or services outside officially authorised server systems is strictly prohibited.

This includes:

  • Selling or purchasing in-game money.
  • Trading inventory items, vehicles, properties or other assets for real-world value.
  • Selling or transferring player accounts.
  • Paying for unauthorised in-game advantages.
  • Arranging prohibited trades through Discord, private messages or external platforms.

🚨 REPORTING REAL-WORLD TRADING

If you become aware of any player or staff member participating in unauthorised real-world trading, please REPORT IT TO MANAGEMENT IMMEDIATELY by opening a confidential support ticket.

Violations may result in permanent bans, removal of associated assets and community removal.

26STAFF CONDUCT & ACCOUNTABILITY#

ALL STAFF MEMBERS ARE SUBJECT TO THE SAME COMMUNITY RULES AS PLAYERS.

  • Staff must treat players respectfully, fairly and professionally.
  • Staff must not show favouritism towards friends, gangs, factions or individual players.
  • Staff privileges cannot be used to obtain unfair in-game advantages.
  • Confidential staff information must not be misused or disclosed without authorisation.
  • Staff cannot use their positions to intimidate, threaten or unfairly target players.
  • Players cannot be punished solely for providing respectful feedback or raising legitimate concerns.
  • Staff must not retaliate against players who submit genuine complaints.
  • Staff must avoid handling complaints where they have a personal conflict of interest.

🔍 INDEPENDENT STAFF REVIEWS

  • Players may confidentially report misconduct involving any staff member.
  • A staff member cannot investigate or make the final decision on a complaint involving their own conduct.
  • Reports involving staff should be reviewed by an uninvolved senior staff member or server management.
  • Staff disciplinary decisions may be appealed through the official support process.
  • Complaints should be assessed using available evidence rather than friendships, popularity or community status.

Nobody is above the rules.

27DISCIPLINARY ACTION & APPEALS#

THE LEGACY ROLEPLAY aims to enforce rules fairly, consistently and proportionately.

When reviewing incidents, staff should consider:

  1. The severity of the violation.
  2. The player's intent and actions.
  3. Available evidence.
  4. Previous behaviour and disciplinary history.
  5. The impact on other players and the community.

Possible disciplinary action includes:

  1. Verbal or written warnings.
  2. Removal from an active situation.
  3. Temporary restrictions or kicks.
  4. Temporary bans.
  5. Removal of illegitimately obtained assets.
  6. Account or character resets where justified.
  7. Permanent bans or community removal.

Serious violations may result in immediate action without prior warnings.

📩 APPEALING A DECISION

Players may request a review of disciplinary decisions through the official support or appeal process.

  1. Appeals must be submitted respectfully.
  2. Players should provide relevant information or evidence where available.
  3. Appeals should be reviewed fairly and, where practical, by staff not involved in the original decision.
  4. Public arguments, harassment or threats directed at staff will not assist an appeal.

28STAFF DISCRETION#

Not every possible roleplay situation can be anticipated.

Management may take reasonable action against behaviour that clearly harms the community, gameplay fairness or roleplay environment, even when a specific situation is not expressly described in these rules.

Staff discretion must be exercised fairly and consistently and remains subject to the official review process.

The purpose of enforcement is to protect the community, not to punish players unnecessarily.
